Informationsarkitektur Kandidat

The master program in Information Technology

The master program in Information Technology (Information Architecture) focuses on communication and interaction through websites, social networks, portals and e-learning systems. As a student, you will learn to design, developed and analyze information systems, while understanding the user, the use context and the technological limitations. This enables you to take part as a design or a project-manager in the design process.

As making information assessable online is a crucial part of modern life, students in the masters program in Information Technology (Information Architecture), will also focus on making information available, assessable and interactive to vide array of users and in many use contexts.

As a student, you will be working on creating coherence between content, form, presentation and organization of content both online and in other it-systems, ensuring ease of use for the users of these systems, while meeting the requirement set be the context, organization, etc.

The masters program in Information Technology (Information Architecture) is concerned with computer mediated communications, and as such usability and user-centred-development are keywords in our field of study. This enables you to develop, plan and execute studies that combine technology, design and human factors, providing knowledge into the field of user driven innovation.

This will also enable you to design readily understandable and effective information architecture that considers the human use of your designs, in terms of e.g. human reason, searching and navigation. As such, you will learn methods of creating user cantered design and development, that supports human communication, interaction and understanding.

Please note, that this master’s programme is offered to international students, and thus, al teachings will be in English.

Structure of the basic masters program in Information Technology (Information Architecture)

The masters program in Information Technology (Information Architecture) is a two-year program divided into four semesters beginning roughly September 1st, and February 1st. You will be able to tone or tailor your education throughput most of the four semesters, with selections in courses, workshops and the subject of the main term paper. This gives you the best possible way of tailoring the education you will be given to interests you have. The paragraph below will provide you with a quick overview of the individual semesters as a whole.

7. semester is centered on “The Rhetoric and Ecology of Information Architecture”. Lectures will be given in rhetoric, design, categorization, knowledge organization, learning and databases and the interplay between these fields of study. Here the focus point of the classical rhetoric; the interplays between content, form and function, is and form is in focus.

8. semester is centered on the "Design of Information Architecture ". You will be working on the design of information architectures, with a focus on user driven innovation as an intern in companies, providing you with real experiences.

9. semester is centered on “Strategies for Change", with a main focus in the communicative consequences of changing information architecture. Here you will be given a deep understanding of rhetoric, design, categorization as well as knowledge organization and learning in information ecologies, with the purpose of giving you the tools needed to lead, coordinate and collaborate on information architecture. This is supplemented with hans-on use of some of the design-tools used in the information architecture-trade.

10. semester is centered on your master thesis
